El Huriya Hospital - Baghdad

El-Huriya is a 500 bed general hospital situated in central Iraq. The hospital was designed in collaboration with BERVER, one of the biggest European manufacturers of climatized modules for cleanrooms and is an expert in integrated design and fitting the health care, pharmaceutical, microbiological and electronic industry facilities with high- technological equipment. The building hosts all the vital departments of a general hospital whilst also including residences for doctors. The building is conceived as several blocks, with each block assigned to a specific functional ward. All interlinked with common circulation. Each block consists of an atrium and a central courtyard in order to maximize daylight and further evoke a sense of serenity within the complex.
